Taino: Living descendants

A collection of (10) large-scale abstract works on paper with spray paint. This is a series of paintings created while exploring my newly discovered Taino heritage. 

Tainos we're the first to experience paper genocide and declared "extinct" in 1565. Our history has been erased but as we all uncover our ancestral DNA we're documenting our existence and collective history together. 

One day, we will be a federally recognized tribe.
